One of the lovely things about staying in Broad Haven is that you’re never too far from something different. Of course, you could happily spend your whole holiday enjoying the beach, but if you fancy getting out and exploring, Pembrokeshire has plenty to offer beyond the coast.
From castles and wildlife parks to pretty towns, good food and days out with the family, there’s something for everyone.
Step back in time at Pembroke Castle
Pembroke Castle is a great place to spend a few hours. This impressive medieval fortress has more than 900 years of history and was the birthplace of Henry VII. You can wander through the towers and passageways before heading into Pembroke itself for a coffee, lunch or a wander around the shops.
Fun for all the family at Folly Farm
If you have children with you, Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo is always a popular choice. There are animals, rides, indoor play areas and plenty to keep everyone entertained — even if the weather isn’t quite behaving itself!
Afterwards, make your way towards Tenby or Saundersfoot for something to eat. Whether it’s fish and chips by the harbour or a relaxed pub lunch, there are plenty of options to round off the day.
Take a trip to St Davids
It’s well worth making the journey to St Davids during your stay. Britain’s smallest city is full of charm, with its beautiful cathedral, independent shops, galleries and welcoming cafés.
It’s also a lovely place to stop for lunch, with plenty of opportunities to try local seafood and Welsh produce. Take your time, have a wander and enjoy the atmosphere — St Davids is somewhere you don’t really need an itinerary.
Something a little different
For another taste of Pembrokeshire’s history, Carew Castle is well worth a visit, with its impressive ruins and beautiful millpond. Or, if you have energy to burn, Heatherton World of Activities near Tenby has go-karts and adventure activities, while Manor Wildlife Park is a great choice for animal lovers.
And don’t forget Narberth. This colourful little market town is packed with independent shops, cafés and places to eat, making it perfect for a slower afternoon.

One of the best things about staying at Atlantic View in Broad Haven is being able to enjoy a different part of Pembrokeshire every day. You can spend one morning exploring a castle, enjoy lunch in a bustling little town, and be back in Broad Haven in time to relax in the evening.
That variety is what makes Pembrokeshire such a special place. There’s always another village to discover, another attraction to visit and, very often, another reason to start planning your next trip before you’ve even left.
